Trip to California

Hey kids I just thought I’d share a bit about our trip to California this past week.

First off, I got some good advice from Shannon for driving in The Golden State, “You just have to drive like you hate everybody on the road.” Now I didn’t really hate everyone, but Anna got a little freaked out when I adapted quickly to L.A. Interstate traffic.

Venice Beach is a real kick in the pants, we stayed on the boardwalk for a couple of nights.  Our hotel was great, but  I didn’t realize that all the fun parts of the beach leave when the sun goes down.  The only people left are the bums, sprouting on the sidewalks like mushrooms.  Oh, and for whatever reason, we only took one picture while we were there.

One thing that made our trip a lot of fun was visiting the different Elks lodges along the way.  Hats off to the people at the Westchester #2050 lodge, they really welcomed us and made the trip a lot better.  The Elks statue at the Indio #1643 lodge was pretty cool too.

Rachel and Shannon had a kick ass wedding in Cherry Valley.  Jewish weddings man, they know how to do it right.  It was also a good opportunity for me to flex my drinking muscles.  Been training in Phoenix for a long time, drinking closer to sea level really lets you up the ante a bit.  😀
